Laboratory for Institutional Analysis of Economic Reforms (LIA)

Institutional economics is an important branch of modern economics that studies the behavior of firms and individuals in the context of formal rules and social norms. Rules, norms and enforcement mechanisms create frameworks for interaction (institutions) that are designed to reduce uncertainty and increase the predictability of economic behavior. Studying the effects of institutions on economic behavior is an interdisciplinary endeavor that requires a combination of diverse methods and approaches. Hence, our team represents scholars from different academic backgrounds – economists, historians, demographers, sociologists. Our research is published in leading academic journals and presented at leading international conferences and seminars.

The Laboratory hosts a regular research seminar, where our employees and invited researchers present their ongoing academic work.
